Worthy of Sacrifice

All throughout history there are stories of people dying for others or a certain cause.  Many of our legends or fairy tales are about a certain person laying down his or her life for another.  That person would be considered a hero in my definition.
I believe that a scenario of when I would lay down my life would be if someone who is unable to defend themselves and is in danger.  As in a woman or a child.  I would lay down my life for any of my family members and actually any defenseless person.  If someone was in danger of getting injured or being attacked i would step into action.  It is easy to say this now, but would it be in the actual situation.  I would also with out question lay my life down for Christ and the spreading of his word.

The story of the three little pigs is one that all children were told as youngsters.  It has been handed down from person to person.  There are many many different versions.

Once upon a time there were three little swine that wanted to go off into the world and build themselves a home.  So they headed out to stake their claims.  The first little pig saw a pile of hay stacked 4 stories high and set himself to work.  The second one came along a pile of sticks and thought that this would be and easy way to build his house and he to set to work.  The third one wasn't as lazy and wanted to be safe.  So he got himself some bricks and as hard as an ox and sweated like a pig to build a strong safe home.
Now there was a hungry wolf roaming along, when he spotted the first pigs house.  He walked up to the door and yelled, "Little pig, little pig let me come in."  With a squeal the pig replied, "Not by the hairs of my chiny chin chin."  So the wolf took in a huge gulp of air and blow down the straw house.  The pig ran shrieking to his brother's stick abode. The wolf, satisfied with his destructive acts, moved on to the next victims house.  "Little pig, little pig let me come in." He taunted.  The pig replied, "Not by the hairs of my chiny chin chin."  So the wolf huffed and puffed and blow down the house of sticks. The two piggies sprinted to their last brother's house and begged to be allowed in.  The wolf calmly strolled up to the last house and rapped on the door.  "Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in." The brothers yelled out, "Not by the hairs of our chiny chin chins."  So for the third time that day he took a huge breath and let lose.  But to his dismay nothing happened.  After several more attempts he scampered away extremely embarrassed.

What is a good leader?
It all depends on what your definition of good is.  According to Dictionary.com, good means morally excellent.  But good could also mean how he leads and caliber of leading capabilities.  No matter what the definition of good is the leader part is the same.   A leader is one that can get people to follow him and stay with him.  Hitler had rose Germany from the ashes and started the Nazis.  Jesus had disciples that left their jobs and families to follow Him.  George Washington lead the American army to victory against the British.  John Smith of Jamestown whipped the lazy gentlemen into shape and got the colony up and running.  History is just stock full of leaders.  Even now people are following Obama.  Not all of them were morally good leaders, but the all were leaders who got people to follow them.  So back to the main question.
A good leader is one that takes his followers forward for the right reasons and treats them fairly.  He also would be willing to do whatever he has his followers do.  He controls his mouth and never blows up at his followers.  In the above list I think that the following were morally good leaders: G. Washington, John Smith,  and Jesus.

Blog 9/ Catalyst

Catalyst is 110 acres that my friends own in Putnum Valley, NY.  The are hoping to eventually make it into a family camp and retreat center.  Right now it is only a cabin with lots of places to explore.
My family and I have been camping here for over 4yrs.  One of my favorite things to do is to just go exploring and hiking around the reservoir.   It is an awesome place to just take in God's beautiful nature and to connect with Him.  In the morning we hear the frogs croaking, during the day we here birds singing, and at night, the bugs and frogs singing.   We are actually heading up there this weekend with our friends to do some cleanup and hanging out.
Last time we were there Kevin and I built several really awesome forts.  We also enjoy running around playing hide and go seek or airsoft.  I can't wait to go up there and spend time in God's creation and awesome nature.

My Trip/ Blog 8

This Easter Break I flew down to Nicaragua with my missions team from school.  During this trip we worked with kids in an orphanage and two schools.  We also helped with cement work and ministered to the community.  My highlight of the trip was working with the cement workers and then playing volleyball with them every day after work.  It was cool to build relationships with them through both working and playing.  During their youth group it was awesome to worship along side my peers from another country.  I was inspired by their love of God in such tough conditions and poverty.  I pray that God will help me build faith like these people of Nicaragua.
When I came back, school seemed so bland and boring.  It felt like I would never be able to go back to normal.  Actually I don't want to go back to normal, I want to be different then the Roger I was before the trip.   I can't wait for next year's trip and what it will have in store.

Relationship with Nature: Blog 7

Whenever it is nice out I try to get outside.  I love camping, hiking, sports, and anything else that takes place outside.  This does not mean that I think we should "save the trees" and other such things.  In the beginning God put man in control of nature and He placed it there for our enjoyment.  I think we should take care to not miss treat nature, but people should definitely take priority over some random bird that is about to become extinct.
I feel closer to God when I am out camping or boating. The fresh air clears my mind and lets me think.  My favorite thing to do in nature is to hike through that woods and at night, get into my sleeping bag and stare up into the sky and listen to the creatures of the night.

Marriages in America Blog:6

We have many different views of marriage in America.  The world's view, the media's view, and then the marriages in our family and friends.  Just in the past week in Bible class I wrote and essay on marriages and the different views given to us of relationships. The worldly view of marriage is that it is all about the sexual part of the relationship and if it doesn't work out then it is alright to have a divorce.  The media's view is that everything is happy and romanitc, but when something bad does go wrong it always comes out perfect in the end.  My parent's marriage is one that is based around the Bible and God.  I think that this is the true way to have a relationship.
Over all I think that marriages in America aren't as strong as they used to be.  And most of the time good relationships are taken for granted.  I am going to base my marriage upon the Bible and not be taken into the worldly view of relationships.

If My House Burnt Down: Blog 5

If my house caught on fire there are a few things that I would take right away.  I would grab my Macbook, Guitar, and Bible.  But of course before I took those I would make sure that my brother got out of the room safely.
Over all I wouldn't be devastated about losing all of my things in a fire, except for that fact that many of them have memorable value.  But one of the big things I would need to keep in mind is that I have treasures stored in Heaven.  My earthly belongs are temporary, but God is keeping and saving treasures in Heaven for me.  If you get to attached to your belongings they will control you and will become first in your life.  If you treasures are hear on Earth then your heart will be of the World, but if your treasures are in Heaven then your heart will be with God.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."    Matthew 6:19-21

Elementry School Memory: Blog 4

Well, I probably don't have the same type of memories that other kids would have because of my being homeschooled all my life up to last year.  But homeschooling doesn't mean that I don't have interesting memories.
When I was about in 2nd grade, or some where around there, I would have every day folders which contained that work I had to complete for that days work.  I particularly did not enjoy my writing worksheets.  So I thought up a plan of how to not have to do the work.  I decided to try throwing the worksheet away and try to get away with it.  Crumbling up the paper I chucked into the trash can.  Later, when my mom went through my work checking it and going over things I needed help with, she discovered that something was missing.  She turned to me and asked where my writing was. I reluctantly walked over to the garbage can and pulled out the crumbled and distorted piece of paper.  Actually I forget if or what my punishment was.  But from now on I haven't thrown away a single writing assignment.
